Tigers Tame Two Time Champions

On Saturday 15th April 2006 London Tigers become the first team in history from Central London to reach the Alec Smith Premier Division Cup Final, one of the most competitive trophies in the Middlesex County Football League.

The final took place at The Warren, home of Yeading FC @ 7:45 pm. The Tigers hired a community transport bus as well as two mini buses to take down their faithful juniors and supporters. The 100+ tiger supporters out voiced the fans of Crown & Manor and were like the twelfth player on the pitch.

The Game itself was dominated by London Tigers who missed a string of chances early on in the first half. Then a counter attacking move by Crown & Manor forced a magnificent save from the tiger’s goalkeeper Philip Pidgwell. This was a wake call for the tigers players as they realised the manor were not going to give up their title easily. As the tigers piled on the pressure they forced a corner. As the in-swinging corner was headed out by a Manor defender,
John Muneghina (20) volley the rebound in to the roof of the net. The crown went wild roaring “Tigers..Tigers..Tigers”

In the second half Crown & Manor piled on the pressure bring on another striker but the tigers defence lead by Player Manager Eddie Cardoso held on and even set up some counter attacks. When the final whilst below the tiger’s players ran to the fans and celebrated the first every trophy won by the Tigers in the Middlesex County Football League.

It was a fantastic night for the junior tigers and spectators as this was their first experience to watch their local team reach a cup final and lift the prestigious Alec Smith Premier Division Cup.
