BANGLADESH FOOTBALL TOUR
In January 2008 London Tigers took 35 young people and adults to Bangladesh for a football and cultural tour. The group consisted of a mixture of Bangldeshi, Albanian, Iranian, Ghanyan, Morrocan and Portuguese.
This initiative was raised when the ex Bangladeshi international players came to UK and played a friendly match with London Tigers Sunday Team. They felt that the overwhelming demand from the players from across Westminster, Camden, Ealing Brent and other areas, was significant to look at how they could facilitate this project.
There were two major matches played; the first was Dhaka Akadosh V London Tigers in the capital Dhaka and the second was Chittagong Abahani V London Tigers at Chittagong Stadium. The tour allowed London Tigers to strengthen it’s relationship with the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) and other professional clubs across the country along with creating friendship between players from England and professional players of Bangladesh.
We also toured the Sylhet region and played a number of popular local teams. We were really touched by the warm welcome we received from these local teams, and particularly the local people, who turned up in their thousands to watch the games.
