London Community Cohesion Cup

The London Tigers Community Cohesion Cup 2006 was organised by London Tigers for the community as a fund raising event to help disadvantage young people to participate in the two of the world’s largest youth international football festivals, Dana Cup (Denamark) & Gothia Cup (Sweden). The tournament took place at the Paddington Recreation ground on Sunday 16th April 2006. It was a big success for us bringing together more than 150 people from 16 to 50 years old and also from 25+ nationalities. The event brought together people from Westminster, different London boroughs and other parts of the country.

The events Special Guest was the former Lord Mayor of City of Westminster Cllr Jan Pendagast who attended on behalf of Sir Simon Milton, Leader of Westminster council. She was delighted to support the event and the work of London Tigers, and amazed to see participants of all ages and many different ethnic groups representing at the tournament and playing and interacting with each other.

“London Tigers are always thinking of new initiatives to bring children and young people together, we see ourselves as bridge between the different communities in Westminster.” Says Mesba Ahmed, Director of London Tigers, who was also participating in this valuable fundraising event and supporting the community interaction. “We have over 400 members from over 60 nationalities involved within our activities, we create opportunities for the hard to reach, so that they excel in sport, education and life.”

Prizes were distributed to participants including the sportsmanship award to Jose Forbes 43, former professional football player who played for Sporting Lisbon, he came down to participate and support this event with his son who plays for London Tigers senior football team.
