Interview with Venture Helper’s Ruki Khanum

Tucked away on the corner of a quiet street in Camden sits the Surma Community Centre, a quaint office space and function room rife with Bengali heritage. The Surma Centre has been kind enough to open its doors for London Tigers’ use for years now, and we went there to interview Ruki Khanum about her upstart recruitment business ‘Venture Helpers’ and her with London Tigers.

Roughly 5% of Londoners are unemployed and that number rises staggeringly when looking at certain age and ethnic demographics. Enter Ruki Khanum, a bilingual entrepreneur who has set up Venture Helpers to aid unemployed Londoners in finding work. The service is free, and open to anyone aged 16+ who would like to better their employment credentials.

Ruki has the best part of 20 years in the customer service sector and it is clear from the moment you meet her that her communication skills are excellently tuned. She is happy to meet any potential client that is available to travel to Camden and can consult in both English and Bengali.

We encourage anyone that may be out of work or even just looking to improve their employment skills to contact Venture Helpers to arrange a meeting with Ruki and take the next step in their career path.
