London Tigers are delighted to announce the launch of our very first corporate football league. The Maida Vale 7-a-side competition kicked off on Thursday 4th October 2012 at the Paddington Recreation Ground, playing host to Portland Resourcing, Eulogy PR, Spreading Jam Media, Synergy Design, Engine Group and Razorfish Marketing in its debut season.
The first evening of play saw Engine FC take on the tongue in cheek Breast Rummage Albion (Portland Resourcing) in the first match of the season. Although an entertaining game, it only delivered a single goal courteousy of Joe Burges, giving Engine FC the win. Breast Rummage Albion were very much in the game with chances missed either half and will surely strengthen as the season goes on.
“It wasn’t the best start to the campaign, but we haven’t played in a while and it’ll take time to settle into our style of play. Nevertheless, we’re confident of pushing the competition all the way and be right up there mounting a title challenge,” said Terry Reilly of Breast Rummage Albion. Whilst opposition captain Abdul Sujon commented, “It was a tough game. We’re chuffed with the result and will look to build on the first win. Also, thanks to London Tigers for putting this together, it’s a fantastic pitch and league set up!”
The second game of the evening was contested between Jason Eulogy and Synergy FC. The game was a one sided affair for the majority of the match, with Synergy FC victorious in a 3-0 win.
“It’s great to win your opening match and so comprehensively, definitely sends a message to all the other teams,” said man of the match and two goal hero Rob Guppy, whilst the response from Jason Eulogy was short and sweet “We just didn’t show up; where’s the local?” from anonymous.
London Tigers will be launching more leagues across London in the coming months for a variety of sports, including lunch time competitions at Play on Sport in Canary Wharf, evening leagues for football and netball at Westminster Academy in Paddington and a Monday evening football league at Paddington Recreation Ground.
