Yasir Sadiq, 21 came away winning the Safer Redbridge Award at the inaugural Mayor’s Community Awards 2012 held at Redbridge Town Hall on Saturday 24th March.
The Award recognises the time and effort given voluntarily by individuals, groups and businesses going above and beyond to help the community and make the borough a better place to live in.
Yasir was nominated for the he has done with London Tigers to create a safer borough by engaging young people in activities away from antisocial behaviour. These activities include running football tournaments with themes such as unity and leadership, as well as youth work where he interacts on a one to one level with young people. He has provided a positive image of what young people can and do achieve
“It is amazing to receive this award,” said Yasir. “But my work is just a reflection of what London Tigers have been doing, making a difference in this community and providing us places and activities for myself and my friends to learn our skills and understand that there are better and more positive ways to spend our times.”
