Tense Games in FIFA Tournament

London Tigers Redbridge Youth Club held a FIFA tournament starting on 8th March 2011. The tournament was extremely popular with around 13 young people entering with another 30 young people packing the centre out to watch and cheer on, and take advantage of the facilities of the youth centre.

The tensest moment of the night was during the quarter finals when all four games went into penalties to decide who would qualify for the semi-finals. Ninety minutes plus extra time was not enough to settle the score between the hungry contestants, who all wanted the winner’s prize.

The final game was a tense match between Aboud Aboud and Khuram Younis, with Aboud winning 3-0. Aboud was presented with a trophy and a £30 JD voucher.

“This tournament brought out the competitive edge in the young people,” said Alhad Mohammed, sessional youth worker. “They had a lot of fun and it provided them with something positive and constructive to do with their time instead of hanging out in the streets.”
